Feel the fear and do it anyway
Fear is part of our life journey, with fear comes uncertainty which is there when we take on new challenges, go through changes or seek a new direction in life.
Throughout my life I have set myself different goals some of which were achievable yet safe and others that were aspirational but seemed unattainable. It came down to working through the fears and uncertainty and why it cant be done and then giving it 100% and moving forward in faith regardless of what I am feeling all telling myself.
We are all in this world together; we are feeling, living, experiencing similar things that life throws at us, some good and some not so good. Yet the way we see and respond to events and experiences will result in the type of lives we choose to live – in fullness and happiness or in fear and oppression and sometimes in depression. We always have choices and being brave enough to take and make these choices is important.
I have started using tools that help me make decisions, influence my feelings and provide a greater balance to life. The first tool is the pain and pleasure model and by asking myself good questions and being aware of why I am doing certain things and for what purpose it serves. Is it to avoid pain? or for another reason or gain. I also have taken on the belief that all decisions no matter what we decide can be a win/win scenario; it’s just how we respond to the outcomes and our flexibility to the learning and experience that can come with either decision.
The most powerful concept in what we have available to us is becoming aware and getting connected to our spiritual being. Personally this has been realised through my Christian faith and my awareness of God as my creator and my spiritual father. When you have a deeper awareness and connectedness with your spiritual self you can fully appreciate and integrate other areas of your conscious and subconscious mind that allow the blessings to flow and show with everything in and around your world. The balance and mapping of the different quadrants that make up our lives – family, personal growth, work, relationships, friends hobbies, leisure, contribution, and other areas become clearer. If all these quadrants are driven by our spiritual side it can lead to greater awareness and a greater sense of purpose and happiness. Life can have more meaning and the world becomes a better place for no other reason that it is just perfect just the way it is. Perfect Love casts out Fear......
Reflecting on our behaviours and why we do, feel, react and act the way we do is the awareness that we are wired to be safe, protected and look towards comfort and certainty before we push to the next level of life. Our ego controls most of these predetermined responses, thought patterns and actions. It's job is to keep us safe, hence our resistance to grow and being pushed from our comfort zone into the unknown zone.
Maslow calls this the hierarchy of needs and this is where people will not move up the ladder of needs until the first one is met. Fear is always going to be there, it is linked to uncertainty and the unknown future, which links in with our emotions and feelings we associate around our different experiences and interpretations that have in life.
In conclusion – step forward in faith, in uncertainty and trust in what you know in the moment and let the fullness of life and possibilities begin
